Broussard Tied For Second After First Round

LAFAYETTE, La. (3/7/05) North Texas freshman Anthony Broussard shot a first round 3-under par 69 and is one-shot behind the leader after the first round of the Louisiana Classic from the Oakbourne Country Club.

“Anthony played really well today,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “We can play a lot better as a team and we still have a chance if we can just come out and make some shots when we have to”.

Broussard paced North Texas as the Mean Green fired an opening round of 294 and sits in ninth place after the first round. The second round of play was cancelled because of thunderstorms.

Broussard shot a front nine 34 and followed it up with a 35 on the back nine. Jason Lindgren and Andreas Kali both had first round scores of 2-over par 74 and are tied for 29th place after the first round. Raul Lemus and Reid McPherson shot 77 in the first round of play and are tied for 57th place.

The final round of play will begin at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow with a shotgun start.
