Cazaubon Fires Career-Low Round Of 67 At Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas- It was a wild ride for the North Texas men's golf team in the first day of the Border Olympics as they sit in 11th place after the first two rounds. The Mean Green opened the day with an 18-hole score of 290 and was alone in third place, but a second round of 311 dropped North Texas back after 36 holes.

Freshman Rodolfo Cazaubon fired a career-low 5-under par 67 in the first round as he sizzled in his first 18 holes for the best round of the day in the field of players. Cazaubon fell off though in the second round with a 79 to finish at 2-over par 146 and tied for 16th place.

Peter Fallon was the steadiest player of the day for the Mean Green with rounds of 74 and 75 to post a 36 hole score of 149. Dustin Thompson opened with an even-par round of 72 but shot a second round of 78 to card a 150.

Freshman Carlos Ortiz and Marco Scarola both struggled in the opening day with scores of 156 and 160.

The Mean Green as a team shot a 601 and is alone in 11th place in the field of 16 teams.

The final round begins tomorrow morning with a shotgun start.
