Men's Golf Closes Out Roadrunner Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (3/1/05) The North Texas men’s golf battled blustery conditions in the final round of the Roadrunner Intercollegiate and finished up the tournament with a third round score of 300 at Oak Hills Country Club.


Individually freshman Anthony Broussard led the way for North Texas with a final round score of 2-over par 73 and ended the tournament tied for 21st with a three-round score of 219, 6-over par.


“I think that we came out and played a little bit better today,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “We still have a lot of room for improvement, but the exciting thing is we have the potential and we just need to be more consistent”.


As a team the Mean Green finished in 13th place out of 17 teams with a three-round total of 903. Freshman Raul Lemus and junior Jason Lindgren finished tied with a three-round score of 228.


Lindgren had the second best round of the day for North Texas with a final round score of 3-over par 74. Andreas Kali had a final round of 77 and shot a 230 while Austin Welch had his best round of the tournament in the final day with a 76 to finish at 233.


North Texas returns to action on Monday, March 7 at the Louisiana Classic.
