Snyman Wins Second Straight C-USA Golfer Of The Week Honor
Strong Finish At Loaded N.I.T. Nets Snyman Back-To-Back Nods
IRVING - North Texas junior Ian Snyman capped off a banner week on Monday by finishing in a tie for second place at the N.I.T. in Tucson, Arizona, following a fourth-place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate on Feb. 16-18.
On Wednesday, his result paid off with a second consecutive Conference USA men's Golfer of the Week award, the league office announced.
Snyman, a Bellville, South Africa native, matched his career-best round twice in Tucson, firing back-to-back 67s to follow an opening round 68. He finished the tournament 14-under par and notched his second top-5 finish in as many events this spring season.
Snyman, ranked No. 82 in the nation, had 16 birdies to just two bogeys in the event and led North Texas to a fourth-place finish in a loaded field, which featured five top-50 teams. The Mean Green beat No. 21 Colorado State - the highest ranked team in the field.
The nod from the conference is Snyman's fourth such award and his first time to claim the honor in back-to-back weeks.
UNT will return to action March 12-14 at the Bob Sutton Invitational at the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas in Irving.
