Broussard Leads North Texas In Final Round Of All-American

HOUSTON, Tex. (2/28/06) The North Texas men’s golf team fired its best round of the All-American Golf Classic with a third-round score of 299 from the Tradition of Cypresswood Country Club.

 

Sophomore Anthony Broussard had the best round of the day with a 1-over par 73 and finished tied for 12th place with a three-round score of 218.

 

“We played a little better today and I was encouraged that we were a bit more consistent but we can still play a lot better,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson.

 

Sophomore Austin Welch was 2-over in the final round and finished tied for 20th place at 221 for the tournament.

 

Raul Lemus had his best round of the tournament with a 76 and closed with a score of 236. Andreas Kali and Brian Hatter both had three-round scores of 238 while Ben Smock rebounded from a tough opening day with a final round of 76.

 

North Texas finished in 10th place in a field of 13 teams with a three-round score of 910.

 

North Texas returns to action on March 6-7 at the Louisiana Classic.
