SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Curtis Donahoe and Carlos Ortiz are both in the top-15 after the first two rounds of the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational as the No. 37 North Texas men's golf team begins the 2012 spring season. Donahoe sits in a tie for ninth place while Ortiz is in 13th place after 36 holes of play.
North Texas as a team shot a two-round score of 590 and is alone ninth place after the first day. The Mean Green is ahead of No. 38 Tulsa and No. 40 Iowa State but No. 32 Oklahoma holds the clubhouse lead after the first day.
Donahoe shot a season-low round of 1-under par 71 in the second round and Ortiz fired a 3-under par 69. Donahoe had 10 birdies on the day in 36 holes and is only four shots off the lead heading into the final round with a 1-under par score of 143.
Ortiz bounced back from an opening round of 75 to fire his second round of 69. Ortiz posted four birdies and had an eagle on the par-5 15th in his second round. He sits at even-par 144 after 36 holes.
Rodolfo Cazaubon fired a score of 151 through two rounds with a total of four birdies on the day. Jason Roets and Marco Scarola have scores of 153 and 154 after 36 holes.
