Gibson In Second As Mean Green Begin Spring Golf Season

CYPRESS, Tex. (2/9/04)- Senior Brad Gibson started the 2004 spring season off right for the North Texas men's golf team as he fired a two-under par second round score of 70 to sit in second place overall after two rounds of the Rice Intercollegiate at Blackhorse Country Club. Gibson shot a two-round score of 143 one under par to find himself in a three-way tied for second place, only four shots off the leader heading into the final round.

Senior Thomas Kulcak is also in the top 10 heading into the final round with a two-round score of one-over par 145. Kulcak is tied for sixth place, six shots behind the leader.

As a team North Texas is in third place in a field of 14 teams after two rounds with a score of 593, nine shots behind the first place Denver Pioneers going into the third round.

Senior Zach Atkinson recovered from an opening round 79 with a second round score of 74 to finish at 153 after two rounds. Weston Binghman is only one shot behind with a two-round score of 154 while Reid McPherson is at 155 after two rounds

The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow, February 10 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
