Mean Green Falter In The Final Round In Pearland
North Texas Finishes In Second Place At Bayou City Classic
PEARLAND, Tex. – The North Texas men’s golf team let one slip away as Houston rallied past the Mean Green to capture the Bayou City Collegiate Classic by two strokes.
The Mean Green, who led by eight shots heading into the final round, were unable to hold onto the lead and Houston surged past the field and NT with a final round of 11-under par to win.
North Texas was 8-over in the final round but still finished in front of the rest of the field as they finished in second.
Sophomore Michael Cotton tied his career-best finish as he ended in seventh place. Cotton had a final round of 3-over par 75. It was the best finish of the fall season for Cotton as he was 1-under par for the tournament.
Cory Churchman had his best finish of the season with a final round score of 1-over 73 to move into a tie for 12th place.
Nick Rodriguez posted his best finish in a tie for 16th place since the Conference USA Championship in 2014. Rodriguez was 2-over par on the day. Ian Snyman finished tied for 26th place after firing a final round of 78 and Thomas Rosenmueller shot a 74 on the day and closed in a tie for 34th place.
North Texas closes out the fall schedule on October 26-27 at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invite.
