Mean Green Second, Hudson Fourth At Abbreviated David Toms
Weather Cuts Event Short, But Mean Green Put In Strong Performance
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - Senior Andrew Hudson, playing as an individual, led the way for North Texas at an abbreviated 36-hole David Toms Intercollegiate from the University Club Saturday, finishing in fourth place at three-under. The Mean Green finished second, which is the team's best finish this season, finishing six-over par. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54-holes, however, the same inclement weather that pushed the event up a day, ended up cutting it a round short.
Including Hudson, four Mean Green golfers finished in the top 11 from Baton Rouge. Junior Jordan Sanders was 10th (E), while junior Thomas Rosenmueller and freshman Viktor Forslund finished in a tie for 11th (+1).
"The team had another solid performance at LSU this week," head coach Brad Stracke said. "From top to bottom, the entire team played well on a very demanding golf course. Having a great facility like Maridoe has enhanced their game tremendously. We look forward to our next tournament at Isleworth."
Hudson played a very clean round, birdieing on two occasions, and parring 13 times. He birdied on nine and 11, on his way to a third place finish. He shot a one-over 73 after posting his four-under 68 Friday.
Sanders birdied on three occasions, finishing the second and final round at even-par, posting 12 pars on the day. He birdied three, seven and 16.
Rosenmueller birdied 12 and 17 in a clean round, while Forslund continued his strong start to his collegiate career. Forslund birdied his final two holes to pull into a tie for 11th at one-over for the day, as well as the tournament.
The Mean Green will be back in action Oct. 22-24 from Windermere, Florida, at The Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.
