Mean Green Sit Second After First Round At David Toms
Andrew Hudson Tied For Lead Individually In Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - Senior Andrew Hudson, playing as an individual, is tied for the lead after the first round of the David Toms Intercollegiate from the University Club Friday after firing a four-under 68. The Mean Green are also in second after day one, at three-over, just three shots off the pace of leaders, LSU.
"The team played solid today," head coach Brad Stracke said. "I'm excited about how our players are progressing. Andrew had an exceptional round today."
Hudson birdied on six occasions during the first round, going back-to-back on three and four, as well as six and seven. He also birdied 11 and 14, while only bogeying twice. He is tied with Central Arkansas' Lewis George atop the leaderboard, and the pair are two strokes clear of LSU's Louis Gagne.
Another pair of Mean Green golfers are tied for fifth, in junior Jordan Sanders and freshman Viktor Forslund. That pair are square at even-par after their first round of action. Sanders birdied five times, on eight, 10, 15 and back-to-back on 17 and 18. He parred eight holes on the day, and is four shots behind Hudson and George. Forslund continues his strong start to his North Texas career, birdieing on three occasions Friday, on one, six and 17.
Junior Thomas Rosenmueller is a stroke behind Sanders and Forslund at one-over, after shooting a 73 Friday. He birdied four times, going back-to-back on 10 and 11, as well as 15 and 16.
The Mean Green will be back in action Saturday morning for the second round with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT, before teeing off for the third and final round later that afternoon and live results can be seen here.
