Churchman Paces North Texas In Final Round At Windon Memorial

EVANSTON, Ill. – The North Texas men’s golf team couldn’t find a rhythm and was unable to climb their way out of 15th place in the final round of the Windon Memorial Classic. The Mean Green, going up against some of the top teams in the nation, shot a third-round of 295 and finished with a score of 881.

Sophomore Cory Churchman led the way for NT as he finished just out of the top-25. Churchman shot a final round of 2-over par 72 and finished 5-over for the tournament, missing out on a top-25 finish by one stroke.

Jason Roets ended in a tie for 45th place after struggling in the third-round with a 7-over 77. Juan Munoz and Alejandro Villasana each finished tied for 69th place.

Munoz had three birdies on the day and shot a 3-ver 73 while Villasana, playing in his first tourney, shot a final round of 77. Nick Rodriguez posted his best round of the tourney with a 3-over 73 that had two birdies on the day.

Cal ran away from the field to capture the overall team title, winning by 13 strokes. North Texas is back October 4-5 at the David Toms Intercollegiate.
