Snyman Finishes Strong, Mean Green Pair Finish Top 11

Sept. 10, 2017

ZIONSVILLE, Indiana - Junior Ian Snyman saved his best for last, firing a two-under 69 during the final round of the Wolf Run Intercollegiate at the par-71 Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Indiana, Sunday. Snyman surged into a tie for 11th, while his teammate, fellow junior Thomas Rosenmueller tied for seventh after another strong day.

"Thomas and Ian played well on a demanding Wolf Run golf course," head coach Brad Stracke said. "We will be working hard the next two weeks to get ready for the SMU tournament. I know we will be a completely different team for our next event."

Snyman's third-round 69 tied for the best round of the day with Miami (Ohio)'s Patrick Flavin, and second best round of the tournament behind only Flavin's teammate, Brian Ohr. That pair finished 1-2 for the tournament.

The South Africa native birdied four times Sunday, on the seventh, 12th, and back-to-back on 15 and 16. Snyman also parred 12 times in his round.

Rosenmueller was steady throughout the tournament, as evidenced by his seventh place finish. He concluded his event Sunday with a three-over 74, birdieing on five occasions. For the second straight day, he was undone somewhat by a double bogey, this time on 13. The strong performance nonetheless, left the Munich native just nine shots off the pace, and landed him his first top 10 finish of the fall in his first tournament.

Kentucky took home the team title at 20-over-par.

The Mean Green will be back in action from the Trinity Forest SMU Invitational starting Sunday, Sept. 24, through Tuesday, Sept. 26 in Dallas.
