Munoz Sets The Pace At The Season Opener For NT

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Senior Juan Munoz led the North Texas men’s golf team in opening round of the season at the Northern Intercollegiate. Munoz is at 1-over par 73 and tied for 14th place after the first round at the treacherous Harvest Farms Golf Course. Only seven players in the field of 73 are in red figures after the first day.

Munoz was 3-under par after the first nine holes with four birdies in seven holes, but he was unable to keep the red-hot pace on the back nine as he had four bogeys.

Sophomore Julien Marot is tied for 32nd place after a first round of 75. Marot had four birdies on the day, but two double-bogeys. Marot and Munoz each had four birdies, which tied for the seventh most by an individual player in the field.

Jason Roets and Cory Churchman are tied for 50th place after shooting a 78 in the first round and Andrew Hudson is one stroke back after an opening round of 7-over par 79.

North Texas as a team is in 10th place after the first round after shooting a 304. Winthrop holds a five-shot lead on the field after shooting 3-under par 285.
