North Texas Falls 3-0-2 In Match Play Semifinal To Charlotte

April 25, 2017

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Mean Green dropped their match play semifinal to No. 3 Charlotte, 3-0-2, at the Conference USA Championship from Texarkana Country Club Tuesday. North Texas finished second Monday during the stroke play portion of the tournament.

"I am disappointed with the way we played today," head coach Brad Stracke said. "Charlotte chipped in a lot and made key putts, which killed the momentum that we had. Charlotte is a good team and not taking advantage of any of the opportunities that were given to us was the difference between winning and losing."

Sophomore Devin Jackson put up a strong fight against Monday's individual conference champion, Seth Gandy, ending their match all square. Fellow sophomore Thomas Rosenmueller was all square against John Gough.

Unfortunately for the Mean Green, its other top performers throughout the season, senior Cory Churchman and sophomore Ian Snyman fell in their match ups. Churchman fell 3&2 to Charlotte's Tyler Young, while Snyman was overtaken late by Conor Purcell, who finished 2 up.

Senior Andrew Hudson had a bit of a back-and-forth match with Matty Lamb, but ended up falling just short, as Lamb won the point, 1 up.

North Texas also fell in the semifinal round of last year's conference tournament in Texarkana to Louisiana Tech, who went on to win the title after upsetting UAB.
