Churchman Tied For Fourth After Round One At C-USA Championship

Junior Cory Churchman shot a two-under par 70 to sit in a tie for fourth after round one at the C-USA Championship Sunday afternoon.

TEXARKANA – Junior Cory Churchman shot a two-under 70 to sit in a tie for fourth and led North Texas men’s golf to a third-place team finish after round one at the Conference USA Championship played at the Texarkana Country Club.
North Texas finished with a team score of 292 (four-over par) and are within striking distance of second-place LA Tech (286) and No. 38 UAB (285). Teams are fighting for one of the top four spots after 54 holes to advance to match play to determine the conference champion.
Churchman led the team with four birdies and fired a two-under 34 on the back-9 to finish with a 70. Freshman Thomas Rosenmueller shot a first round one-over par 73 to finish in a tie for 16th. Rosenmueller ended his round in style with two birdies on the final three holes.
Sophomore Michael Cotton had a solid first round score of two-over par 74 to finish in a tie for 24th. Cotton shot 37 on the front-9 and a 37 on the back-9 finishing with two birdies.
Junior Alejandro Villasana fired a first round 75 (three-over par) to finish in a tie for 27th. Villasana finished with two birdies but bogeyed the final hole to sit at three-over par.
Freshman Ian Snyman also finished with a first round 75 (three-over par) to finish in a tie for 27th. Snyman birdied the 17th hole to shot a back-9 score of one-over par 37.
