NT Finishes In Eighth In Final Tune-Up For C-USA Championship
Cotton Notches Another Top-25 Finish
COLLEGE STATION -- The North Texas men's golf team was unable to make up any ground in the final round of the rugged Aggie Invitational to finish in eighth place. The Mean Green, facing off with seven top-50 teams in the nation, was unable to move out of the eighth spot after shooting a final round of 308.
Freshman Michael Cotton had the best finish of the tournament for North Texas despite a 4-over par score of 76 in the final round. He finished in a tie for 21st place.
Cory Churchman had the best day for the Mean Green with a 2-over par 74. Churchman had perhaps the biggest scoring swing of the afternoon. He began his day with an eagle 3 on the par-5 10th hole and was 4-under par with two holes to play, but he played those final two holes at 6-over par. Jason Roets shot a final round of 8-over par and finished tied for 38th with Churchman.
NT held off No. 50 Michigan by four strokes as No. 9 Oklahoma captured the overall team title by three shots over No. 11 Texas Tech.
North Texas heads to the C-USA Conference Championship on April 26-29.
