STATESBORO, Ga. – Juan Munoz and Jason Roets rebounded in the second round of the Schenkel Invitational but the North Texas men’s golf team remains in 15h place after two days of play. Munoz shot a 1-under par 71 while Roets a 1-over 73 and both players are tied for 50th place after two rounds.
The Mean Green as a team cut 13 strokes off the score from the opening round to post a 296 in the second round. Despite the improvement, NT is in 15th place while Georgia Southern vaulted into the lead after shooting 12-under par to lead No. 14 UAB by four strokes headed into the final round.
Munoz used a late charge to put up red figures on the round as he carded three birdies in the final five holes. Roets and Munoz each sit at 5-over par 149 for the tournament.
Freshmen Andrew Hudson and Cory Churchman both fired second rounds of 76. Hudson ended with two straight birdies. Julien Marot shot a second round of 78.
