Munoz Surges Into The Top-10 As Mean Green Close Strong

March 10, 2015

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - It was another strong finish for the North Texas men's golf team as they shot the second-lowest round of the day and senior Juan Munoz had the third-best round of the day at the General Hackler Championship. Munoz shot a 2-under par score of 70, the third-lowest round of the day, to notch a top-10 finish as he ended tied for ninth.

Munoz was one-hole away from possibly having the lowest round of the day, but a double-bogey on the final hole cost him. That didn't take away from the round for Munoz as he had five birdies on the day and finished with back-to-back rounds of 70.

The Mean Green as a team couldn't climb into the top-three as Iowa State held off NT by one stroke and NC State beat NT by just four shots. North Texas beat a number of top-60 teams, and No. 42 East Tennessee State by 25 strokes.

Michael Cotton notched another top-25 finish as he was tied for 21st place after a final round of 76. Jason Roets finished tied for 30th place after shooting 4-over par. Alejandro Villasana matched Roets and was tied for 30th after a 1-over par score of 73 in the final round. Cory Churchman bounced back nicely in the third-round with an even-par score of 72. He finished tied for 55th.

No. 25 North Florida captured the team title by shooting 3-under par for the event.
