Cotton And Roets Boost NT In The Second Round
Mean Green Tied For Fourth Place After First Day In South Carolina
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - A big second round boosted the North Texas men's golf team into a tie for fourth place after the opening day at the 2015 Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday General Hackler Championship. After opening the day in 10th place after a first round of 297, the Mean Green bounced back to post the second-lowest score in the second round at 1-over par 289 to move up into a tie for fourth place with Kent State.
Freshman Michael Cotton led the second round surge as he shot a 2-under par 70 and is at 1-over par for the tournament at 145. He is tied for 13th place. Jason Roets is in the top-25 and only one stroke behind the pace set by Cotton with a 146. Roets had back-to-back rounds of 1-over par 73.
Juan Munoz is tied for 24th place after he was 2-under par in the second round. The 2-under par score helped Munoz bounce back from a first-round score of 5-over 77.
Alejandro Villasana is tied for 37th place after an even-par score of 72 and a 5-over par round of 77. Cory Churchman couldn't get going on the day as he shot an 80 and a 76 on the day and is tied for 69th place. North Carolina State holds the overall team lead by three shots over North Florida and 15 strokes over the Mean Green.
