Munoz And Roets Post Top-25 Finishes In Florida
Mean Green Finish In 11th Place At John Hayt Invite
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Senior’s Jason Roets and Juan Munoz powered the North Texas men’s golf in the final day at the John Hayt Invitational as the pair both posted top-25 finishes. Munoz shot an even-par score of 72 while Roets was at 2-over par for the day as they each finished tied for 25th place overall.
North Texas as a team didn’t fare quite as well, as they fell three spots overall to finish in 11th place. The Mean Green shot a third-round of 305 against perhaps the strongest field of the season, as it featured six top-50 teams. NT did finish in front of No. 31 East Carolina by 24 shots.
Roets was 4-over after the opening nine holes, but he played the back nine at 2-under par. Munoz played the back nine at 1-under par as the 72 he shot was the best round of the tournament by a North Texas player.
The rest of the Mean Green didn’t fare as well. Cory Churchman shot a 7-over to finish tied for 57th place, Michael Cotton was 8-over on the day and he ended in a tie for 51st place while Alejandro Villasana shot an 11-over par and finished tied for 71st place.
No. 8 Texas held off the field to win the overall team championship.
North Texas is back in action March 9-10 at the Hackler invitational in Myrtle Beach.
