PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida - Sophomore Thomas Rosenmueller sits in a four-way tie atop the leaderboard after the first round of The Hayt Friday from Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Rosenmueller carded a 3-under par 69, his best round of the 2016-17 season, to lead the Mean Green, who are in sixth place following action on day one, six shots off the pace.

"Thomas put together a solid round today," head coach Brad Stracke said. "Cory [Churchman] also had a good start. Anytime you shoot under under par at Sawgrass Country Club, you feel confident about your game."

Rosenmueller birdied seven holes Friday, including back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, respectively. Friday marked the fifth time that Rosenmueller has been under 70 during his collegiate career.

Senior Cory Churchman joins his teammate Rosenmueller inside the top 10, as he sits in a tie for ninth place after round one, at 1-under par. Churchman birdied on four occasions during his round, going back-to-back twice, on No. 7 and No. 8, as well as No. 10 and No. 11.

The Mean Green are back in action Saturday morning for round two, which is set to tee off at 8:15 a.m. CT. Fans can follow along with live results, courtesy of Golfstat.
