Strong Final Round Has The Mean Green Climb Into The Top-5
Mean Green Finish In Fourth Place After Stellar Last Day
SAN ANTONIO – Jason Roets and Cory Churchman both shot 1-under par in the final round to power the North Texas men’s golf team up the leaderboard on the final day of the UTSA Oak Hills Invite. The Mean Green shot up the leaderboard to a top-5 finish after a third-round score of 4-over par 288, the third best round of the day. NT, which opened the day in eighth, ended the tournament in fourth place.
Roets and Churchman both finished tied for 17th place with a tournament score of 218. Churchman had his round to 4-under par after he eagled the par-5 15th hole, but a slipped in the final two holes with a double bogey and bogey. He had three birdies and one eagle on the day.
Roets had three birdies on the day and finished strong with a birdie on the 17th hole to finish at 1-under par on the day. Freshman Michael Cotton notched a top-25 finish after a third-round score of 3-over par 74. Cotton finished tied for 24th place.
Juan Munoz shot a 3-over par 74 in his final round and was tied for 32nd place. Alejandro Villasana ended in a tie for 71st place after a final round of 76. Julien Marot, playing as an individual, finished in 84th place after his final round score of 11-over par.
Baylor led wire-to-wire to win the overall team championship by 16 strokes over the host UTSA.
North Texas is back in action on Feb. 27 at the John Hayt Invitational.
