NT Mean Green Football Website
We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green football. The North Texas football team is coming off a record-breaking 2013 season that culminated with the Mean Green winning the 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl. North Texas won nine games in 2013, which is tied for the second most in school history and only the fifth time in school history. The Mean Green won only its third bowl game in school history by defeating UNLV and quarterback Derek Thompson was named the MVP. In the inaugural season in Conference USA, North Texas won six conference games, the second most in school history and finished the season at home with a 5-1 mark.
Along the way North Texas rewrote the record books, setting a school record for most offensive yards in a single season with 5,336 and scoring the over 400 points for only the second time in school history. The Mean Green defense allowed the fewest points in single season since 2002, had the second most sacks in school history with 39 and finished eighth in the nation in scoring defense.
The Mean Green had 14 all-conference selections, tied for the second-most in school history. Brelan Chancellor was only the second player in C-USA history to earn first-team all-conference as kick and punt returner.

Apogee Stadium, the home of North Texas football, is the long-awaited replacement to Fouts Field and the centerpiece of the Mean Green Athletic Village. Opened in 2011, Apogee Stadium was designed by the same team that created the spectacular Dallas Cowboys Stadium, award-winning architects HKS Sports and Entertainment Group and Manhattan Construction, and they brought some of the same touches to Denton. Apogee features two huge, state-of-the-art video boards, 21 luxury suites, 750 club seats, high-tech facilities for broadcast and print media, banquet rooms and an 1,800-square-foot team apparel store.
The team trains on the Darrell R. Dickey Practice Facility, at the Mean Green Village, which also contains a locker room and a team lounge.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
