Henson, Ozougwu and Wheeler Sign With North Texas At Mid-
DENTON - The North Texas football team added its first players of the Seth Littrell era when they signed offensive lineman T.J. Henson and defensive ends Joshua Wheeler and Joseph Ozougwu on Thursday during the mid-term signing period.
Henson is from Trinity Valley Community College, Wheeler is from Tyler Junior College and Ozougwu is from Alief Taylor High School. Henson and Wheeler hail from the DFW area having played at Plano East Senior High and South Grand Prairie High School, respectively.
Henson, a 6-4 315 pound offensive lineman who played tackle at Trinity Valley, can also play guard or center. Henson is a Plano, Texas native, was a two-time second-team District 10-5A selection at Plano East high school his senior and junior year. Henson chose North Texas over offers from Iowa State, Nevada and East Carolina.
"He's a versatile offensive lineman that uses his understanding of the game to help the most explosive offense in the junior college ranks," North Texas head coach Seth Littrell said.
Wheeler was an honorable mention All-American in 2015 and finished third in the nation with 16 sacks. He notched 9.5 tackles for loss to go along with 49 tackles in 10 games last season for Tyler Junior College, he finished his career at Tyler Junior College with 25 sacks.
"Joshua is an every down player that has special talent and is relentless in his effort all over the field," Littrell said.
Ozougwu finished his senior season with 78 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He was an all-district 23-5A player and a team captain. He enrolled at North Texas in the fall and will join in the football team in the spring. His older brother Cheta Ozougwu played at Rice and was a seventh round draft pick of the Houston Texans.
