Listen//Watch North Texas In The Wyndham New Orleans Bowl Tonight

North Texas makes its fourth straight bowl appearance at the 2004 Wyndham New Orleans Bowl tonight at the Louisiana Superdome. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm and can be seen live on ESPN. Fans can also listen live on the Mean Green Radio Network (KWRD 100.7) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

North Texas will be making its fourth straight trip to the New Orleans Bowl after completing a perfect 7-0 record in the Sun Belt Conference. It will be the fourth straight New Orleans Bowl appearance for the Mean Green and the seventh bowl appearance in school history. The Mean Green also played in the Optimist Bowl (1946), Salad Bowl (1948) and Sun Bowl (1959) in addition to the last three NewOrleans Bowls.

Of all the teams playing in bowl games this season, only 20 have been to more consecutive bowl games than the Mean Green. Michigan leads the way, making its 30th straight bowl appearance when it plays in the Rose Bowl.

It has been a tale of two seasons for Southern Miss, which comes to New Orleans with a 6-5 record, including a 5-3 record in Conference USA. The Golden Eagles started the season 4-0, which included a season-opening win at Nebraska. After the 4-0 start, the Golden Eagles lost five of their last seven games, including four of their last five. The Southern Miss defense ranks second in Conference USA in scoring defense and pass defense. It also ranks second in kickoff returns and net punting. The Golden Eagles rank near the bottom of the league in passing offense and total offense as well as passing efficiency. Southern Miss has played in a bowl game in seven of the last eight years, winning three.
