Chancellor Named C-USA Special Teams Player Of The Year

DENTON, Texas – Senior Brelan Chancellor has been named the 2013 Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year as announced by the league today. Chancellor, who is one of only 10 players in the nation to return a punt and kickoff for a touchdown this season, is the first North Texas player in school history to be named Special Teams Player of the Year.

Chancellor was a first-team all-conference pick as the kick returner and punt return, and a second-team all C-USA pick as a wide receiver. Chancellor is just the second player in league history to be named first team at both return positions.

Chancellor leads C-USA in kickoff and punt return yards this season and is one of only two players in the nation with three punt returns of over 50 yards. Chancellor needs just 54 all-purpose yards to break the school record for most in a career and 11 punt return yards to set a new school record for a single season.

Chancellor is averaging 16.8 yards a punt return and 28.1 yards a kick return. He holds the school record for most kickoff returns in a career with three, most return yardage and the has the second most punt return yardage in single season.
