DENTON, Texas (11/26/07) Mean Green defensive end Jeremiah Chapman has been awarded the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his final home game in a Mean Green uniform and a 27-26 North Texas victory.
Chapman, a senior from China Spring, Texas, had a career-high 16 tackles including 2.5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles to lead the North Texas defense in the 27-26 come-from-behind win over Western Kentucky. It was his 13th career 100-yard rushing game, which ranks third in school history. It was also the first time since his freshman year that Thomas has recorded mutliple touchdown games in back-to-back contests.
North Texas returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 1 when it faces FIU in its final game of the season in Miami at 6 pm.
