Lafayete, LA (11/10/06) - After a heartbreaking loss to Louisiana Tech, North Texas returns Sun Belt Conference play at Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. The game can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network with George Dunham and Hank Dickenson. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST.
North Texas is coming off its best offensive performance of the season where it racked up 415 yards of total offense, the team’s most since 2004. Johnny Quinn, who set NT’s all-time receiving yards mark last week, leads the Sun Belt with 65.5 yards per game. Louisiana-Lafayette features a potent rushing attack that ranks 16th in the country. Led by one of the conference’s top backs, Tyrell Fenroy, the Ragin’ Cajuns average 189.13 rushing yards and 314.38 total yards a game.
North Texas leads the overall series 7-3 and has taken five of the last six meetings. The two schools met four times prior to their annual Sun Belt matchup, beginning with a 40-6 North Texas victory at Fouts Field in 1969. The Mean Green holds a 3-1 edge at Cajun Field.
