North Texas Looks For Two In A Row At Florida Atlantic

DENTON, Texas (11/6/08) Coming off the dramatic win over Western Kentucky, the  North Texas football team looks to make it two in a row on the road as they head to the sunshine state to face Florida Atlantic Saturday afternoon.


The Mean Green’s win 51-40 win over the Hilltoppers was the first road victory under head coach Todd Dodge and the first win away from home since 2006. Florida Atlantic is coming off a bye week but the Owls are riding a two-game winning streak. FAU defeated ULM on the road in the last minute two weeks ago 29-28.

North Texas junior linebacker Tobe Nwigwe was named the Sun Belt Conference defensive Player of the Week for his effort in the Mean Green’s win over Western Kentucky Saturday. Nwigwe played an integral role in preserving the win, leading a goal-line stand that was culminated in his 97-yard interception return for a touch­down.

North Texas will face a Florida Atlantic team that ranks last in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring offense, averaging 18.1 points per game. That average will be tested by a Mean Green defense that ranks last in the league in scoring defense, allow­ing 48.9 points per game.

There is no television but the game can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
