DENTON, Texas (10/20/07) The North Texas football team faces Sun Belt Conference leader Troy, today with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m.The game will be played at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium (30,000) and will be televised by SportsSouth with Tom Werme and Rod Smith calling the action. The game can also be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network with George Dunham and Hank Dickenson.  


North Texas earned its first win of the season with a 31-21 victory over Louisiana-Monroe at Fouts Field last week.The Mean Green defense had its best outing of the season, holding the Warhawks to just seven points until the last 1:30 of the game when it gave up two insignificant scores. The North Texas offense ranks third in the league in total offense (425.8 avg) and first in passing offense (318.0 avg). After losing its first two games of the season to Arkansas and Florida, Troy has ripped off four straight wins, including three straight wins over Sun Belt opponents. The Trojans have won their three conference games by an average of 17.3 points per game and they lead the league in scoring offense with an average of 34 points per game.   


North Texas and Troy have met four times with Troy holding a 3-1 advantage in those games.  The Mean Green has out-scored Troy in the four games, scoring 53 points compared to 45 points for the Trojans. The three North Texas losses have come by an average of 4.3 points while its one win was a 21-0 victory in 2003. The Mean Green is 0-2 at Troy, losing 18-16 in 2001 and 14-6 last year.
