Mean Green Faces Non-Conference Foe On Saturday

DENTON (10/19/05) - After snapping its three-game losing streak in the win at Florida International, the Mean Green (2-3, 2-1) takes a break from Sun Belt Conference play with a road trip to Louisiana Tech (2-3, 2-1) this Saturday. The game can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network at 3 pm.

The Mean Green owns a 27-2 Sun Belt Conference record since the league’s inception in 2001. North Texas has won four straight conference titles and has played in four consecutive bowl games. Coming off a 6-6 season in 2004, Louisiana Tech has dropped all three of its road games, but is undefeated in two home contests. The Bulldogs knocked off former Sun Belt opponent New Mexico State 34-14 and Hawaii 46-14.

The Mean Green owns a 5-4 all-time margin over the Bulldogs, including a 4-2 edge in Ruston. North Texas took the last meeting 10-5 at Fouts Field in 1987.

While the Mean Green holds a winning margin over Louisiana Tech, the program has not been as successful against the Western Athletic Conference. North Texas has a 34-73-2 all-time record against the WAC. North Texas last faced a WAC opponent in 1999 when the Mean Green fell to Texas Christian 27-3 in Fort Worth, Texas.
