NFL Season Kicks Off Thursday With 7 Former NT Players Making Waves
Dunbar, Robertson, Orr And Olawale Continue To Thrive In The NFL
DENTON – The 2015 NFL season kickoffs Thursday night and the North Texas football program will have seven former players on active rosters or practice squads.
Craig Robertson starts his fourth season with the Cleveland Browns and is a starting linebacker. He has started 28 games in the last three seasons with the Browns, racking up 277 total tackles, five interceptions and four sacks.
Lance Dunbar prepares for his fourth season with the Dallas Cowboys and is expected to be one of their primary running backs. Dunbar has battled through injuries throughout his first three seasons, but has been touted as one of the main guys the Cowboys will be counting on in the backfield. He played in all 16 games in 2014 and rushed for 99 yards and had 18 receptions for 217 yards.
Jamize Olawale is entering his fourth year with the Oakland Raiders as the team’s top fullback. He has played in all 16 games the past two seasons and has made 12 catches for 81 yards during that time.
Zach Orr begins his second season with the Baltimore Ravens after playing in 15 games last season and making eight tackles, primarily on special teams. He is expected to contribute more on defense heading into the 2015 season.
Derek Akunne, Antoinio Johnson and Cyril Lemon were all recently signed to NFL practice squads. Akunne joined the Atlanta Falcons, Johnson is with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Lemon signed with the New Orleans Saints.
