Freshman From Oklahoma Ties NT School Record With Five Field Goals In Rout Of SMU
DENTON – North Texas freshman placekicker Trevor Moore was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week after his record setting performance in the Mean Green’s 43-6 rout of SMU.
Moore tied a North Texas record and had the best performance by a kicker in FBS this season, going a perfect 5-for-5 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on PAT attempts for 17 total points.
His five field goals was just one away from the NCAA record for field goals made in a game by a freshman and was the second-best performance by a kicker in a single game in Conference USA history. Moore scored 17 of the Mean Green’s first 29 points in the game.
Moore made field goals from 47, 44, 42, 23 and 21 yards in the game. In addition, Moore was named the National Placekicker of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
North Texas returns to action on Thursday night as they host Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. at Apogee Stadium.
