#NFLMeanGreen: Week 1 Is Upon Us
Robertson, Olawale Look To Make 2017 Regular Season Debuts
DENTON – The National Football League’s season is upon us, and it is again time to revisit those in the league that once called Denton home in 2017’s fourth installment of #NFLMeanGreen.
Two of the three former North Texas players in the NFL, New Orleans Saints linebacker Craig Robertson and Oakland Raiders fullback Jamize Olawale are each expected to see action in their respective season-openers. Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar remains out with a knee injury and has been moved to the PUP/Reserve list, meaning the earliest he can return to the field is Week 7.
Robertson’s Saints finished the preseason at 2-2, after being knocked off by the Baltimore Ravens 14-13 in New Orleans on Aug. 31. Robertson did not play in the preseason finale. New Orleans opens the 2017 season on Monday Night Football at 6:10 p.m. CT in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Vikings.
Olawale’s Raiders were winless in the preseason after falling 17-13 at home to the Seattle Seahawks in their preseason finale, a game that Olawale did not appear in. Oakland opens its season Sunday at noon CT in Tennessee against the Titans on CBS.
The Rams, who finished 2-2 during the preseason, host the Indianapolis Colts Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m., also live on CBS.
Be sure to follow the former Mean Green players in the NFL throughout the remainder of the preseason, and on into the regular season here on MeanGreenSports.com each Tuesday.
