Apogee Concessions Debuts New Menus, New Website
Menus Include Jalapeno Cheese Sausage, Brisket Sliders, Brisket Nachos, Philly Cheesesteaks, Pizza, Chili Bread Bowls
DENTON - Apogee Stadium will debut rebranded concessions stands, expanded concessions menus and a new concessions website at this Saturday's season-opening football game against SMU.
This year's menu has several newcomers, including hickory-smoked sausage and jalapeno cheese sausage from Syracuse Sausage Co., brisket sliders, brisket nachos, chili bread bowls, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, and personal pizzas.
In conjunction with the rollout of new menu items, North Texas is also debuting a new website, meangreenconcessions.com. The site allows fans to find where particular menu items are sold within Apogee Stadium and to view concessions menus and prices. The site will eventually be expanded to include the Super Pit and other North Texas venues.
Apogee's concourse concessions stands have been redesigned with four cuisine-based themes and menus, and each stand has prominent new signage:
- North Texas has partnered with Syracuse's Sausage Co. from nearby Ponder, Texas, and Apogee's four Backyard Grillers concession stands feature Syracuse hickory-smoked sausage, bratwurst, and jalapeno cheese sausage.
- North Texas Cantina, located in the west and east concourses, is headlined by brisket sliders, brisket nachos, chili bread bowls, and jalapeno cheese sausage wraps.
- Scrappy's Favorites features personal cheese and pepperoni pizza, and includes Syracuse hickory-smoked sausage, cheeseburger basket and nachos. There are three Scrappy's stands, one in each concourse.
- Victory Grill features a cheeseburger basket, grilled chicken sandwich basket and Philly cheesesteak basket. There are three Victory Grill locations, one in each concourse.
"The thought was to put out a lot of new menu items, but to do so in a way that makes sense from a fan perspective," director of concessions John Gibson said of the theme-based rebranding.
"Our goal is to enhance the gameday experience," Gibson added.
This year's beer lineup includes Bud Light, Henry's Hard Soda, Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Shiner Bock and Shock Top. Cold beer is available at five concessions stands.
UPDATE 9/2/16: The beer lineup has been expanded to include craft beers. The following craft beers will be sold at a kiosk in the northwest corner of the concourse: Audacity IPA, Audacity Oktoberfest, Coops Red Ale and Shannon Blonde Ale. The Craft Beer kiosk, which has been added to the online concessions map, will also sell domestic beer.
Several local vendors return to Apogee this year: Beth Marie's Ice Cream, Metzler's BBQ, Rudy's BBQ, Poppy's Kettle Corn, and Nothing Bundt Cake. Rudy's is back in its location in the north concourse beneath the wing seating section, Metzler's is in the west concourse, Beth Marie's and Poppy's are located in the west, north, and east concourse, and Nothing Bundt Cake is in the east concourse.
A concession-stand staple, hot dogs, has been upgraded this year to an all-Angus beef frank from Texas Chili Co. Angus hot dogs and traditional fare such as peanuts, pretzels, candy and Frozen Chills are available at 12 of Apogee's 15 stands.
Large fountain drinks, available at 12 stands, will be served in a newly-designed full-color souvenir cup, and come with one free refill per purchase.
Also added to Apogee's gameday fare are new satellite kiosks offering funnel cakes and Oreo Churros. These kiosks can be found in the east and west concourses.
