North Texas senior running back Brandin Byrd is use to carrying a heavy load. In 2012, Byrd was the Mean Green’s leading rusher with 875 yards. Off the field, Byrd carried an even heavier load in the classroom, but it all paid off when the senior received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas on August 10th.
Byrd arrived at North Texas in the fall of 2010 and completed his degree early and is now in graduate school in Recreation, Event and Sport Management while finishing out his football eligibility in 2013.
The soft spoken Byrd, who was elected as one of the four team captains for the 2013 season, wants to pursue a career in coaching once he’s finished playing football. The consummate teammate, Byrd got his diploma in the afternoon after playing in the first training camp scrimmage on the morning of the 10th.
