DENTON - The Mean Green is concluding its 2014 preseason camp this weekend, and will now turn its attention to preparations for the season-opening game against the Texas Longhorns next Saturday, Aug. 30, in Austin.
This year's camp was marked by a number of heated position battles to fill holes left by the exit of 22 seniors, including 13 starters at quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker and defensive line.

It was also a hard-hitting camp, with big plays coming from the defensive line, linebackers, and the secondary. Chief among the big hitters were seniors James Jones and Derek Akunne, as well as returning starter Kenny Buyers, who turned the memorable tackle shown below in the second scrimmage of camp.
