Facilities Update Photo Album
DENTON (8/17/05) - The Fouts Field turf renovation project reached a milestone as crews began installation of the endzone lettering.
Sportexe, who is installing the Omnigrass turf system, started putting in the north endzone lettering today. The north endzone will read "North Texas" and the south will have "Mean Green".
After the endzones are completed, a two-inch layer of 100-percent ground rubber infill will be installed to make the field ready for play. The Sportexe Omnigrass surface is a state-of-the-art turf system, and is the safest synthetic field on the market today.
Construction rolled along at the Waranch Tennis Pavilion. Light poles were put in on the southwest courts and a roof was installed on the clubhouse.
The facility, already chosen to host the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Tennis Championships, will house 12 courts and a clubhouse that will serve as a lounge and pro shop, as well as providing office space and locker rooms for the Mean Green tennis team.
Locker rooms at the former Liberty Christian School are ready for the finishing touches as crews completed painting this week. Restroom, office facilities and classrooms are also taking shape.
