DENTON - Monday marked the first two-a-days session for North Texas. The Mean Green began the day with practice starting at 9:15 AM and then hit the field again for a second session that lasted roughly an hour later in the afternoon.

The defensive line made its presence felt in both practices, as it was troublesome for the offense during team drills. There were multiple pass break-ups made by a variety of defensive linemen during 11-on-11 drills and they put consistent pressure on the quarterbacks.

Tackle of the Day: Tillman Johnson of Round Rock, Texas, was all over the practice field Monday. The junior defensive end had a big tackle for loss in the morning practice's team session on a run play.

Sack of the Day: Immediately following his tackle for loss, Johnson promptly sacked the quarterback for another considerable loss. His efforts earned a lot of cheers from his defensive counterparts.

Interception of the Day: He may not be a defensive lineman, but defensive back Nate Brooks had an impressive day Monday as he continues to shine in camp. The Whitehouse, Texas, native came down hard on a receiver's route and stepped in front of the intended target to intercept the pass. If it were a real game, Brooks would have had a high possibility of returning the interception for a touchdown.

• Kansas State graduate transfer nose tackle, Demonte Hood of Arlington recorded a tackle for loss in the morning session.

• After breaking through the offensive line only to see a screen pass float over his head, Johnson chased down speedy running back Andrew Tucker for a minimal gain early in the day.

• Receiver Daniel Khan is the only California-born North Texas player on the roster. Monday, the redshirt sophomore made a couple of difficult catches over the middle of the field in tight coverage.

• Junior defensive tackle Sid Moore from Van, Texas, joined the party in the backfield when he too chased down a running back for a loss during the morning session.

• Defensive back Andrew Jones had an interception. It was the Mesquite native's first interception of camp.

• Freshman defensive end LaDarius Hamilton (Corrigan, Texas) made an impact during special teams in the second practice of the day when he burst through to block a punt.

• Freshman quarterback Mason Fine found receiver O'Keeron Rutherford for a touchdown on a pass that was perfectly placed over Rutherford's outside shoulder in the corner of the end zone. The 5-foot-11 Oklahoma born quarterback has connected with the 6-foot-5 Carthage, Texas, native on several occasions throughout camp.

• Minnesota-born linebacker, E.J. Ejiya, had a pass break-up down near the goal line.
