Pedestrian Bridge Update & Mean Green Wallpaper
Posted August 9, 2012
If you've driven on I-35E past Apogee Stadium in the last several days, you've seen the pedestrian bridge is no longer lying in sections on either side of the highway. The raising of the sections and their placement on the pillars took place July 27-29 and went well.
The main trusses, which were welded on site, are weathered steel and will not require painting. The silver upright pieces, echoing the wing-shape of Apogee's end-zone seating section, are galvanized steel and, likewise, do not require painting.
There's still a great deal of work to be completed, including installation of galvanized steel mesh on the sides and trellis work on top of the bridge, lighting of the bridge's walkway, and completion of the ramps and sidewalks leading up to and away from the bridge. As to when the bridge will be completed, construction crews are aiming to be finished by the September 8 season opener but work on sidewalk connections will commence after the bridge is complete and the final completion date is not yet confirmed.
See the photo album of the bridge to Apogee.
The bridge is 20 feet wide, sufficient for both pedestrians and for carts that carry mobility-impaired fans.
The retaining walls on either side of the bridge still have some painting to be completed, and the sidewalks around the bridge are not finished. Eventually, sidewalks will run from the Super Pit to the bridge, and the path will be landscaped.
Mean Green Computer And Cell Phone Wallpapers
New computer, tablet, and cell phone wallpapers are now available for download. This year's batch is by far the largest variety of sizes ever offered on meangreensports.com, and one of the largest offered by any athletic department or professional sports organization.
The number of screen sizes out there is truly staggering, but I think we've covered the spectrum of the most popular computer and cell-phone screen resolutions. We have seven sizes for laptop and desktop computers, two sizes for tablets, and 15 sizes for cell phones.
The designs being launched now include two non-sport-specific wallpapers and two for football. More designs will be forthcoming in other sports.
The wallpapers are available on the Downloads page. Click to go there.
