Signed: 2006 from Celina High School
2009 Key Stat: 2 ... Tune only threw two interceptions in 107 pass attempts in 2009. He really stepped up during the absence of Dodge and played well, delivering 646 yards and five touchdowns.
Why he will start: Tune comes out in fall camp and demonstrates his skill and knowledge of the offense. He is going to have to be a consistent passer and have a good looking deep ball, as well as the ability to scramble under pressure.
Why he won't start: Derek Thompson builds off of his only appearance as a college quarterback (3-3, 60 yards and a TD) and strong spring and claims the top spot on the depth chart.
Overall: Nathan Tune wouldn't be a bad pick to run the offense when the Mean Green opens up at Clemson in September. He has been around for four years and knows the offense well. While he hasn't proven he is as mobile as Thompson thus far, don't let that fool you, he can scramble under pressure when he needs to.
