DENTON, Texas (6/25/09) Lace up your running shoes and join the Mean Green for the inaugural North Texas Athletics Touchdown 5K Run and 1-Mile Family Fun Run at the Mean Green Village on Saturday, Aug. 1. The race will take runners through the site of the new North Texas Football Stadium.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, the Touchdown 5K run combines paved surface and grass. The course begins at Victory Hall next to the North Texas Athletic Center on Bonnie Brae in Denton. Participants will run by the athletic facilities at Mean Green Village and finish near the site of the future football stadium. A family fun run at 10 a.m. will follow the 5K race.
Following the races, participants and friends and family can enjoy a number of activities, including music, food, walking tours of the athletic facilities, meet and greets with North Texas coaches and student-athletes, the Mean Green Bounce House, dunking booth and obstacle course.
Race participants are invited to stay for the Mean Green Kickoff Cookout, which begins at 11 a.m. Come join North Texas coaches, student athletes, cheerleaders, dancers and Scrappy in an afternoon of food and fun!
Food will be served for $10 a person and kids 12 & under eat FREE! There will also be live entertainment, North Texas Athletics Director Rick Villarreal will speak and fans can pick up their 2009 season tickets, Mean Green Club gifts, and more.
