DENTON – The North Texas football season opener at Texas on August 30 will kickoff at 7 p.m. and will be televised on the Longhorn Network. The Mean Green is making its first trip to Austin since 2006 and looking for the program’s first ever-win over the Longhorns.
NT is winless against Texas in nine previous games, but four of the losses have been by 13 points or less. This will be the fourth time North Texas opens the season against Texas, with the previous three games coming in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
In Texas, the Longhorn Network is available on Verizon FiOS, DISH Network, Time Warner Cable, AT&T U-verse, Charter Communications, Grande Communications, E-Tex Communications and Texas Mid-Gulf Cablevision.
Outside of Texas, the Longhorn Network is available on AT&T U-verse, Charter Communications (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, Virginia), Cox Communications (Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma), Google Fiber (Kansas City), Verizon FiOS, Consolidated Communications, En-Touch Systems, Bay City Cablevision and Mid-Coast Cablevision.
The Mean Green returns nine starters off one of the most successful teams in school history. NT won nine games and captured only the third bowl game in school history with a 36-14 win over UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
