DENTON, Texas – Scott Hall and Cody Spencer arrived at North Texas in 2000, a time when the football program was still floundering and struggling to gain afoot at the Division I level. By the time they left, their legacy and the Mean Green’s place in Division I was never in question. Hall, a gritty QB, helped take North Texas to the Sun Belt Conference title in 2001, 2003 and 2004 and Spencer was one of the toughest linebackers in program history, earning all-conference honors from 2001-03.
Hall and Spencer are both set to be inducted into the North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday morning.
The Mean Green went to the New Orleans Bowl each of those years thanks to the leadership of Hall and Spencer. Hall guided North Texas to 24 wins while under center at North Texas as the QB. Spencer was a three-time all-conference selection from 2001-03 and was twice named to the first-team all-conference. Spencer had 105 tackles his sophomore season in 2001 and helped guide NT to its first bowl game since 1959.
The Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will take place Saturday, April 12, at 11:30 a.m., prior to the Green-White spring football game, in the Hub International club level of Apogee Stadium.
