SAN ANTONIO , Tex. ( 2/8/04 ) The North Texas women’s tennis team (3-1) won its second straight match with a 5-2 victory over UT-San Antonio on Sunday.
The Mean Green’s 3-1 start marks the third consecutive year it has won at least three of its four matches. All three NT victories have been by at least three points.
North Texas won the doubles point and has now won the opening point in all four matches played this season. The Mean Green earned the point by winning flights one and three. Krysta Lee and Katherine Harris teamed up to claim flight one 8-5, while Megan Schmulbach and Ingrid Stockinger claimed an 8-2 flight-five victory.
The Mean Green won four of the six singles flights, including three in straight sets. Lee, Kelli Royer, Ashley Sammis and Stockinger all picked up a win in singles action for the Mean Green.
North Texas will wrap up a four-match road stretch this weekend, facing Florida A&M on Friday and New Orleans on Saturday. Both outings will be played in New Orleans . Friday’s match is set to get started at 12 p.m. , while Saturday’s match will begin at 10 a.m.
