DENTON, Texas - The North Texas football team's first year in Conference USA will see Rice, UTEP, UTSA, and Middle Tennessee visit Apogee Stadium in 2013, as announced by the league office. The Mean Green will play four C-USA road games at Tulane, Tulsa, Southern Miss, and Louisiana Tech. No dates have been announced for any of the league games.
North Texas begins the 2013 season at home on August 31 against Idaho. It is the first time that the Mean Green will begin a season at home since 2001. Following the game against Idaho, North Texas travels to Ohio on September 7, then return home to Apogee Stadium to face Ball State on September 14. The non-conference schedule concludes on September 21 with a road game at Georgia.
The first season in Conference USA for North Texas will be marked by the renewal of old rivalries and the first ever games against Tulane and UTSA.
North Texas and UTEP will play for the first time since 1980, while the Mean Green and Southern Miss meet for the first time since playing in the 2004 Wyndham New Orleans Bowl. North Texas and Southern Miss have not played a regular season game since 1981.
North Texas and Rice will battle for only the fourth time in series history while the Mean Green and Louisiana Tech meet for the first time since 2006.
The 2013 Conference USA East Division will consist of East Carolina, FAU, FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss and UAB.
The West Division is made up of Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, UTEP and UTSA. The winners of each division will meet in the C-USA title game.
