Was inducted into the North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013  ... Was one of the stalwarts of the North Texas defense from 2000-03... Was a three-time all-conference selection from 2001-03 and was twice named to the first-team all-conference.

2003
Named first-team all-conference...Racked up 121 tackles and seven tackles for loss as the Mean Green won the Sun Belt Conference title for the third-straight year ...Was one of the forces on a defense that limited teams to the second-fewest rushing yards allowed in a single season since 1969...The 121 tackles were the most at North Texas since 1989 and ranked sixth most in school history.

2002

Earned first team all-conference honors despite missing nearly four games... Dislocated his elbow six plays into the Alabama game and missed the next three games... Earned Byron Gross Award as the team’s Outstanding Linebacker for the second consecutive season...Playing with a heavily bandaged arm, averaged 7.0 tackles per game after returning from his injury... Totaled 66 tackles for the season, including 42 in conference games... Led all linebackers in the Sun Belt Conference and was third on the team with five quarterback sacks, including two against Texas in the season-opener... Had a career-best three interceptions for the season, including one against Cincinnati in the New Orleans Bowl... Returned all three of his interceptions back for at least 10 yards... Was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after recording nine tackles with one sack and the interception against Louisiana-Lafayette... Led the team with seven passes broken up... 2001
Spencer had a breakout season in his first year as a starter, earning second team all-conference honors... Was presented the team’s Byron Gross Award as Outstanding Linebacker by the coaching staff... Led the team in tackles with 105 and ranked fourth in the Sun Belt Conference in tackles... Spencer had a career-high 18 tackles against Louisiana Monroe - the second best single-game performance by any player in a Mean Green game during the 2001 season.... Against Troy State Spencer had 16 tackles, including 11 solo tackles, earning Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance.... Spencer was the only North Texas player to rack up at least 10 solo tackles in any game during the 2001 season.... Had at least eight tackles in the final five games of the season including the New Orleans Bowl where he had nine.... Recorded at least 10 tackles and led the team in total tackles four times last season.....Spencer also had 13 and 12 tackles respectively against TCU and Texas Tech... Also had one interception, two fumble recoveries and two pass deflections.

2000
Cody earned a letter as a true freshman seeing time at linebacker and on special teams. He finished the season with five tackles including two against Texas Tech and one each against Boise State, UL Lafayette and Idaho.

High School/Personal
Spencer was a first team all-district pick at tight end and a second team all-district pick at outside linebacker as a senior. He had 25 receptions for 420 yards and four touchdowns as a tight end. As a running back he had 270 yards rushing on 75 carries and scored two touchdowns. As an outside linebacker he had one interception, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, 25 solo tackles and 20 assisted tackles. Spencer was an honorable mention all-district pick as a junior, finishing with 55 tackles and six quarterback sacks as he helped Grapevine to a Class 4A Division I state title. He is the son of Wes and Juli Culver and was born June 1, 1981 in Port Lavaca, Texas.
