DENTON - The North Texas men's basketball team continues Conference USA play on the road at UT San Antonio on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.

The game will be broadcasted locally on KCWX-TV with Mike Lefko doing play-by-play and Chuck Miketinac provided color commentary. Both teams enter with identical records at 8-6 and 1-0 in league play.

The Mean Green won for the first time in school history at the Don Haskins Center in a 63-62 win at UTEP. The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak overall to the Miners and was the first win in the series since 1952.

Sophomore guard Roosevelt Smart led the way with 29 points off just 13 shots and was 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Smart is off to a record pace at 18.4 points per game and has scored 258 total points, 58th in the nation. Smart is shooting 90.2 percent from the free throw line, which is 31st in the nation. His 45 made three-pointers (14th nationally) is on track to break the school record set by Calvin Watson who hit 90 in 2006-07.

Senior Shane Temara finished with 14 points and four three-pointers against UTEP. Temara is third on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game and is shooting 40 percent from the three-point line. Sophomore Ryan Woolridge only had seven points against the Miners but played all 40 minutes. Woolridge leads the team in assists already matching his total from a season ago with 67 in 14 games.

The Mean Green are looking for a road sweep to open C-USA play for the first time ever. The last time a North Texas team earned two wins on the road to open league play was back in 1991 with wins at Southwest Texas and Stephen F. Austin.
