DENTON - The North Texas men's basketball team hopes to continue its winning ways at home against Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. inside the Super Pit.

The Mean Green (5-5) dropped their third-straight road game in a 76-70 loss at Sam Houston last Saturday. North Texas made a late rally cutting a double-digit lead to just three points but couldn't pull through in the end. Freshman A.J. Lawson scored a career-high 18 points off 7-for-14 shooting. Lawson earned C-USA Freshman of the Week for the first time this season after his performance against the BearKats.

Freshman Ryan Woolridge made his season debut with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal in 26 minutes off the bench. Woolridge provided a big spark late in the game, including a pretty alley-oop pass to Lawson for a dunk.

Junior Jeremy Combs scored 13 points at Sam Houston and leads the team in scoring at 13.8 per game. Senior Deckie Johnson is second in scoring at 11.2 per game and Lawson is third at 9.9 per game. Classmate J-Mychal Reese leads the team in assists at 4.2 per game and has gone 16-for-20 from the free throw line.

The Mean Green continue to hold teams defensively to 40.5 percent (school record through 10 games) from the field and are only allowing 68.3 points per game.

North Texas has one more non-conference game remaining against San Diego on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. The Mean Green will open Conference USA action with five of the first seven games on the road starting at Charlotte Dec. 31 at 11 a.m.
