Game 11 - Central Arkansas
DENTON, Texas - Come joins thousands of area school kids on Tuesday as the North Texas basketball team will be hosting Central Arkansas for its annual Denton-ISD Day at 11:30 a.m. at the Super Pit.
Elementary school students from all over DISD and the surrounding communities will pack the Super Pit on Tuesday morning as a part of the Mean Green's continued partnership with the school district. Obviously good luck, NT is 5-0 on Denton-ISD day, and has scored at least 90 point in each of the games.
This year's opponent, Central Arkansas, owns one of the nation's most opportunistic defenses. The Bears rank second in the Southland in steals per game at 9.3. Jalen Jackson paces UCA with 2.0 steals per game, while Daouda Berete isn't far behind with 1.7 per game.
This is the first ever matchup between NT and Central Arkansas, and wraps up the Mean Green's five-game series with the Southland Conference this season. NT downed Nicholls State (92-78), Incarnate Word (84-67), Southeastern Louisiana (75-61), but fell to Stephen F. Austin, 87-53.
North Texas now has three members of the 700-point club. Vertrail Vaughns poured in 11 points on Sunday to bring his career total to 707 points, which includes his time at George Mason. The senior joins Alzee Williams (852) and Jordan Williams (779) on the scoring totals.
